Looking ahead, Blizzard’s 2025 roadmap includes spellcrafting in Season 9, enabling players to customize spells, and another crossover event. The next major expansion arrives in 2026, so the Reliquary system will remain significant for Diablo IV Gold now.
Many players feel the Reliquary has complicated seasonal progression, making it more about spending than earning rewards. Blizzard must improve clarity, pricing, and value to regain trust and maintain player engagement.
Diablo 4’s Reliquary System Sparks Debate Over Player Choice and Monetization
Season 8 of Diablo 4 introduced the Reliquary system, a fresh take on the battle pass designed to offer players more control over their seasonal rewards. Unfortunately, the community reaction has been largely negative, focusing on confusing UI, questionable pricing, and concerns about monetization fairness.
The Reliquary system replaces the traditional linear reward track with multiple themed Reliquaries. Players earn Favor Tokens by playing and use them to unlock cosmetics and other items. However, each reward is also purchasable with Platinum, Diablo 4’s premium currency, and the UI prominently promotes the paid option.
Reddit user Loika exposed a major flaw: the Platinum purchase button appears more prominently than the token redemption option, with no confirmation prompt for spending. For example, an armor set costs 15 tokens or 750 Platinum (around $7.50). This design risks accidental premium currency spending, particularly by new or casual players.
Console players are further disadvantaged by shifting controller button mappings. The button to claim rewards with tokens changes mid-flow to purchase with Platinum, as confirmed by cheap Diablo IV Items GameSpot, increasing accidental spending risks.
