  • Meghalaya with Kaziranga Road Trip: 6N/7D Group Adventure from Guwahati

In just one week, you can go from watching one-horned rhinos in Assam to boating on a river so clear it looks like glass, then trekking down to a bridge grown from living tree roots. That is the idea behind Deyor's Meghalaya with Kaziranga 6N/7D Road Trip, a group journey that starts and ends in Guwahati. If you want a Meghalaya tour package from Guwahati without planning every drive and stay yourself, here is what the trip offers.

    Trip at a Glance

The trip starts at ₹25,999 (GST as applicable) and runs for 6 nights and 7 days. Listed departures include 23 Oct, 30 Oct and 06 Nov, though dates and seats can change, so confirm them on the trip page. You travel with a Trip Captain and a driver-cum-guide, stay in standard category hotels, and spend one night in riverside camps at Dawki.

    The Route, Day by Day

Day 1 begins at Guwahati Airport, followed by a drive of about 230 km to Kaziranga, where a Bihu dance show and dinner await in the evening.

Day 2, a morning jeep safari in the Bagori Range gives you a chance to spot rhinos and other wildlife before the long drive to Shillong.

Day 3 brings Laitlum Canyon, Krang Suri Waterfall and the Umngot River at Dawki, where boats seem to float in mid-air. You spend the night in riverside camps, with a bonfire if the weather allows.

Day 4 covers Mawlynnong, often called the cleanest village in Asia, along with Mawsmai Caves, Lyngksiar Falls and Wei Shandong Falls, before you reach Cherrapunji.

Day 5 is the big trek: more than 3,000 steps down to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Fit travellers can continue to Rainbow Falls.

Day 6 you see Nohkalikai Falls, Arwah Cave and the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, then head back to Shillong.

Day 7 includes Umiam Lake boating and the Don Bosco Museum before the transfer to Guwahati Airport.

    What's Included and What's Not

The price covers standard accommodation, a vehicle for transfers and sightseeing with driver expenses, tolls, fuel and parking, airport pick-up and drop at Guwahati, a driver-cum-guide, a Trip Captain, two dinners and six breakfasts, Umngot River
boating, unlimited cliff jumping in Dawki and the guided root bridge trek.

Flights, other meals, entry tickets and activities not listed, personal expenses and GST are extra. Because entry tickets are excluded, ask Deyor whether the Kaziranga jeep safari fee is covered before you book.

    Practical Tips

Plan your flights carefully, since Days 1 and 7 involve long drives. Pack rain gear and shoes with good grip, as Meghalaya gets plenty of rain. Carry water for the root bridge trek, which is tough on the way back up, and keep some cash for small villages. Follow your guide's instructions during cliff jumping and boating.
